The press arms we have in stock were chosen specifically for compatibility with the Avail brake plate. The 2500C press arm underwent a few revisions with minor differences and not all function correctly with the Avail brake plate. This enables the Avail plate to have a 2 step clutch which prevents the reel from going into gear on the cast. Other press arms are prone to the hair trigger effect, which can lead to a damaged pinion gear. To our knowledge, ABU produced five variants of the press arm. The first was not numbered and doesn’t work correctly. The others, numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4 are different. The unnumbered press arm and the press arm stamped with 4 DO NOT work correctly with the Avail brake plate.
